The "Writer's Guild of America East" issued a press release saying Ellen wasn't welcome in New York and that they would protest when she filmed in N.Y. and then late Friday evening the "American Federation of Television and Radio Artists" released a statement that supported and defended Ellen.

Ellen's is being criticized for doing her show even though there is a strike but for some reason none of the critics are criticizing Oprah, Live with Regis and Kelly, Tyra, The View and practically all of the show in prime time even though they are all still airing new episodes. The critics also didn't mention that by continuing to tape Ellen is giving all 135 of her non-writing staff paychecks and if Ellen doesn't continue to tape her show she violates her contract!

Other shows were not immediately affected, including the talk show "Ellen," which will continue production. Host Ellen DeGeneres told her studio audience at Tuesday's taping that she was obligated under her contract to continue the show, although she supported the striking writers.

"I want to say I love my writers," DeGeneres said. "In honor of them today, I'm not going to do a monologue. I support them and hope that they get everything they're asking for. And I hope it works out soon."-Yahoo.com

Ellen's a no-show

Ellen didn't show up at work today in support of the writer's strike.

"Debbie Stephens and Stephanie Springer drove all the way down from Sacramento to see a taping of the "Ellen DeGeneres Show."

They showed up at NBC at 6 this morning to get tickets.

A network representative stood outside the gate to tell then there would be no show today.  "Ellen" is canceled thanks to the writers' strike.
