The Golden Globes were nearly cancelled due to the writers strike but that didn't stop Ellen and Portia from having their own awards show

Ellen DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia de Rossi joked that they'd be holding their own private gala on Sunday night. "We're giving each other awards," said DeGeneres. "We're pretending we're up for things, getting all dressed up in the living room and taking pictures: 'Portia, single shot!' And we have a little round table, and we drink and eat like we're at the Globes. We pretend we have an awards show."
